The Oregon State House Human Services & Housing Committee voted 5-4 on Thursday, March 30, to approve a revised bill that lifts the statewide ban on rent control and imposes relocation fees for no cause evictions. The revisions made by the committee include an exemption of units less than five years old from any local rent control measures, as well as a reduction in the amount of relocation assistance landlords are required to pay to the equivalent of one month’s rent, rather than three The next step is for it to proceed to the house floor for a vote.
